Grabbed lady lawyer without her consent in chamber; district judge gets transferred

KOCHI: District Judge gets transferred as the allegation of assaulting a young lawyer persists. Lakshadweep Kavarathi District Judge K Anilkumar has been transferred as Pala Motor Accident Claim Tribunal judge. The complaint was forwarded to the advocate registrar that the judge called her to the chamber, assaulted her, and tried to influence her against complaining. But the accused judge was transferred when the allegation that no action was taken in the complaint was remaining.

In the complaint filed with the High Court Registrar, it is alleged that she was assaulted in the chamber and promised that a favorable stand will be taken in the cases if the information is not disclosed. The lawyer informs that she filed a complaint with the High Court Registrar General on March 11 regarding the incident that caused her mental distress. The members of the Lakshadweep Bar Association met with the Registrar General of the High Court regarding the complaint. The transfer took place when legal action was about to be taken against the district judge.
