MALAPPURAM: The Samastha leadership has once again expressed its dissatisfaction with the Muslim League, pointing out that Hakeem Faizy is continuing as the general secretary of the Coordination of Islamic Colleges (CIC) despite handing over his resignation letter. Samastha was irked by the fact that League state president Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal, who is also the CIC chairman, did not approve Hakeem's resignation even after a month since the resignation letter was handed over to him.

Samastha's move is to start courses similar to the Wafy, and Wafiyya courses under CIC on a residential basis in the new academic year.

Sunni youth group and SKSSF came forward with criticism soon after the release of a promotional video featuring the Panakkad family members for CIC's admission campaign. SYS organizing secretary Abdul Hameed Faizy Ambalakkadavu wrote on Facebook that education that disobeys Samastha and teaches to look down on scholars should be boycotted

Following the pressure from Samastha, Hakeem Faizy had handed over his resignation on February 22 as per the demand of Sadiq Ali Shihab Thangal. Soon, 118 people, including the teachers of CIC, resigned. It is the general body that must approve the resignation of the secretary. Hakeem Faizy's resignation was temporarily frozen, pointing out that CIC's functioning would be in crisis due to the mass resignations. Samastha expelled Hakeem Faizy from the Malappuram district mushavara citing anti-organisational activities.
