THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM State Secretary MV Govindan rejected the opposition's allegations in the AI camera controversy. He clarified that the opposition is creating a smokescreen by raising controversy about the project and that there is no corruption.

MV Govindan said that the allegations leveled in the camera controversy are baseless. The opposition is showing only one part of the agreement, if we read the second part of the agreement the doubts will be cleared. The UDF and the media are doing extensive publicity work using the Safe Kerala project. The plan was prepared as per the decision of the Supreme Court to implement the Motor Vehicle Act. DPR was prepared by Keltron and action was taken as per Cabinet decision.

The subcontracting clause is contained in Keltron's tender document. Administrative approval of 232.5 crores was given. 56.24 crore for five years of maintenance, 35.76 crores GST and owned by the Department of Motor Vehicles. The required software was specially designed. 726 cameras have been installed across the state. Keltron is giving impeccable service but still getting dragged into unnecessary controversy. Govindan also said that data security is Keltron's responsibility.

Angered by the media's questions about the allegations against the Chief Minister, MV Govindan reiterated that everything being said against the Chief Minister is pure absurdity.
