'While other staff were brought inside the room only Vandana remained outside; he walked towards doctor, pushed her down and stabbed her'

witness

KOLLAM: Shocking details have come out in connection with the incident in which a lady doctor was stabbed to death by an assailant who was brought to the Kottarakkara taluk hospital by the police for medical examination. According to an eyewitness, Sandeep, who first attacked the policemen, walked towards Dr. Vandana Das, who was standing near the dressing room, before pushing her and stabbing her multiple times.

Eyewitness' words

When I came outside after hearing the noise, I saw the assailant hitting a policeman. When I ran towards him, the assailant brandished a surgical blade in his hand towards me. I then moved back. In the meantime, the assailant stabbed the home guard three or four times. Although the assailant attacked the SI, he was left unhurt. Soon, a police officer of the Aid Post reached there. However, the assailant stabbed this policeman several times in the head near the OP. Meanwhile, everyone who was there ran away.

Soon, the front door of the hospital was closed. I then brought all the staff there into a room and closed the door. Unfortunately, only house surgeon Vandana Das remained outside. We did not notice it then. Dr. Vandana was standing in the dressing room near the hall. The accused then walked towards the doctor, pushed her down, sat on the side of her head and stabbed her multiple times.

Meanwhile, another house surgeon working at the hospital came there and pulled the accused's leg after pushing him. However, the accused had stabbed Vandana from behind several times by then. Following this, the people present there took Vandana and ran outside. The accused threw the blade down only when the policemen reached the hall after some time.
