Driver's instant decision saved 60 passengers in Kottayam-Thiruvananthapuram bus

CHENGANOOR: A KSRTC bus from Kottayam to Thiruvananthapuram was all going smoothly until its battery exploded with a blaring noise instilling quick fears in the passengers on the bus. Driver A T Raj and conductor S Shaji showed the presence of mind which helped the 60 and more passengers continue the journey safely.

It was morning 11:30 am when the battery exploded catching fire as the bus was turning the Chenganoor bus depot. The driver not losing composure steered the vehicles to a nearby workshop, while the conductor safely distanced the passengers from the battery area of the vehicle. The workshop expert Shivaprasad rushed to detonate the battery from the bus. The passengers were made to travel in another bus while the driver and conductor waited with the mechanics as the work progressed.
