Woman arrested for trying to extort money by lodging fake sexual assault complaint

NEW DELHI: Police have arrested a woman for attempting to embezzle Rs 10 lakhs by accusing a youth of sexually abusing her. The woman lodged the sexual assault complaint at the Sector 49 police station in Gurgaon. On April 13, the woman, her friend, and another youth met in a hotel room in South City. After the woman's friend left, the two spent several hours in the hotel room, police said. On the next day, the woman approached the police accusing the youth of sexually abusing her.

Upon questioning, the youth told the police that the woman demanded Rs 10 lakh from him to withdraw the complaint. Following this, the police asked him to record the phone conversation with the woman. Soon, the police realized that the woman had filed a fake complaint to extort money from the youth. The youth then lodged a written complaint against the woman with the police. The police have booked the woman under Section 389.
