Prisoner escapes from Viyyur jail; police on high alert

THRISSUR: A prisoner shocked the officials by escaping the high-security Viyyur jail in Kerala. Govind Raj, a native of Tamil Nadu, escaped the jail on Friday. He is accused in several theft cases.

The accused sneaked his way out of the prison while the guards were busy watering the garden. Police have intensified their search for Govind Raj. A lookout notice has also been issued for him.

Govind Raj was allotted duty at the garden on Friday at 9 a.m. It was at this time that he evaded the eyes of the guards and found his way out from the central prison. However, it is said that the jail guards reported the issue to the police only at noon.

The accused is infamous for conducting robbery even from the govt medical college hospitals. A lookut notice has been issued.
