THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chandy Oommen, son of former chief minister Oommen Chandy, was on Monday sworn in as Puthupally MLA. His swearing in was after the question hour in the assembly. The opposition received Chandy Oommen, who came to the assembly along with Kundara MLA P C Vishnunath, by hitting on the desk.

Chandy Oommen took the oath in the name of God after addressing the opposition leader and the chief minister. After signing in the register, Chandy Oommen reached the dais and shook hands with the Speaker.

It was earlier announced that group photo of MLAs will be taken today. However, it was postponed to another day following the absence of three MLAs including A C Moideen. A group photo is usually taken during the final days of the assembly session. Sources said the group photo can be taken early as the central government's idea of ‘one country, one election’ prevails.
