THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP leader Dr R Balashankar has sent a legal notice to CPM leader Jaick C Thomas for referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a mean man. In the legal notice, Dr Balashankar said that he will go ahead with a criminal case and court proceedings if Jaick C Thomas does not withdraw his statement and apologise for it.
"Calling the person who became the Prime Minister after contesting elections democratically and winning a two-thirds majority a mean man is an insult to the 140 crore people of the country and India in front of the people of the world. A person who is said to be a mean man cannot even contest elections. According to the Constitution, women, men and transgenders are considered equal human beings. A person referred to as 'a mean man' would not come under any of this. Hence, Jaick C Thomas's remark can only be seen as an affront to the Constitution," Balashankar said.
"No one with political culture should respond to opponents like this. The remarks made by former state president of SFI and CPM leader Jake C Thomas, who has contested assembly elections three times on a leading channel like Asianet are highly condemnable," he added.
