KOCHI: Aluva police changed the strange order that banned cooking in hotels on the day of the Chief Minister's arrival. On the day of the chief minister's arrival, the police had instructed that no cooking should be done in gas stoves in the hotels operating near the conference venue in the Aluva constituency of the Nava Kerala Sadas.

An instruction in this regard was also handed over to the shopkeepers near the Aluva Private Bus Stand, a designated conference venue. The new directive asks traders to not use gas for two hours when the Nava Kerala Sadas is held. In the earlier instruction, the traders were ordered not to use gas stoves during the whole day. The change was made not to alleviate the controversy.

The controversial order according to the police was pertinent for strengthening the security of the chief minister. The order also stated that the food for sale should be cooked and brought from home. The Nava Kerala Sadas program in Aluva is scheduled for December 7. It is also suggested that those working in the nearby shops should get a special ID card from the police on this day. The police explained that this kind of action is taken considering the huge participation expected in the program.

To get the ID card, one has to approach the Aluva East Police Station and submit two passport-size photographs, personal details and a copy of an identity document. It has also been clarified that anyone who does not have a card issued by the police will not be allowed to work on December 7.
