Kalamassery blast: Thodupuzha native who was undergoing treatment dead; total death toll rises to seven

KOCHI: One more person who was undergoing treatment for injuries in the Kalamassery blast has died. KV John (78), a native of Thodupuzha Vandamattom, has passed. He was being treated in a critical condition in a private hospital in Kochi. He had 50 percent burns. His wife Lily John was also injured in the blast and is undergoing treatment. With this, the death toll in the explosion has increased to seven.

The blast took place at the Kalamassery Zamra Convention Center during a convention of Jehovah's Witnesses on October 29. Six people, including three members of a family, had already died in the blast. Kumari from Thodupuzha, Leona Paulus from Perumbavoor Kuruppampady, Molly from Kalamassery, Sally from Malayattoor, her daughter Libna, and her son Praveen are the people who died. Dominic Martin, who was arrested in the case, is currently in remand.
