THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Police said that a huge racket, including Youth Congress state secretary Aravind Vettikal, was behind the job fraud in the name of the Health Department. More people have come up with complaints after the news of Aravind's arrest came out. According to reports, five people have approached the police so far. An Aranmula native. who approached the police, lost Rs 1.50 lakhs. Police believe that more people will come out with complaints.
Aravind was arrested by the Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment Police in the case of siphoning off money from a Karunagappally native woman by offering her a job as a receptionist at Kottayam District Hospital. The incident came to light after the woman came to report at the hospital with the appointment letter. The Health Department Director lodged a complaint with the police after the copy of the appointment letter given by Aravind circulated on social media.
Police are saying that Aravind was not giving proper answers during interrogation. It is believed that he might have received help from some top leaders within the party. Soon after getting elected as Youth Congress state secretary, Aravind had set up flux boards congratulating him all over the region. He had also built a large house recently. The police suspect that he may have used the money made through fraud for this.
