KOLLAM: The investigation into the kidnapping of the six-year-old girl from Oyur has taken a significant turn after revealing that the accused had attempted to abduct more children. Authorities are intensifying efforts to gather additional evidence surrounding the motive behind the abduction and potential involvement of others in the criminal gang. Tomorrow, the police will collect further evidence from the accused.
Initial findings indicated that the accused had plotted to target multiple children, a fact supported by recovered documents. These documents found in the notebooks of one of the suspects Anupama confirm the intentions to abduct several children.
Following the first round of interrogation, suspicions arose that the accused had made attempts to kidnap several children. The investigators highlighted that detailed plans for these abductions were discovered in notebooks belonging to Anupama providing substantial evidence of their intentions to target multiple children.
Upon the investigation team's statement that accused people Padmakumar, Anithakumari and Anupama remained uncooperative during questioning by providing vague responses, the Kottarakkara Magistrate's Court granted custody of the accused to the investigation team for a seven-day period. The interrogation process involves cross-referencing the statements given by the accused with the existing evidence.
Today or tomorrow, law enforcement intends to escort the accused to crucial locations including Pooyapally, where the abduction occurred, the routes traversed during the incident and the accused's residence in Chathannoor. These visits aim to gather further evidence regarding the abduction and the location where the child was concealed.
