KOLKATA: Kerala Blasters broke their long-lasting curse and defeated Mohun Bagan for the first time in ISL history on Wednesday. Greek professional Dimitrios Diamantakos danced past the Bagan defenders to score a peach with his left foot, helping Blasters go top of ISL with one commanding victory.
Blasters were commanding throughout the game and played beautiful football much to the chagrin of Bagan home fans. Bagan keeper Vishal Kaith brought out a luminous display and acted akin to a sweeper preventing many chances from Blaster's side.
Even after getting one goal, Kerala continued playing attacking football confounding Bagan players. This is Bagan’s third defeat of the season. Playing in the absence of injured captain Adrian Luna, Diamantakos scored his ninth goal of the season today. Kerala has 26 points to their credit with eight losses, two draws and two defeats from 12 games.
