THODUPUZHA: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has said that there have been multiple assassination attempts against him before this. He was inaugurating the 'Karyanyam' scheme implemented by the Kerala Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithi (KVVES).

"I've faced several threats before this. There have been five attempts on my life. Will one feel fear at 72 that one did not feel at 35?" he asked.

"I was just 35 years old when I resigned from the union cabinet. I had faced threats during the 1985, 86, 87 period. Attempts were made on my life five times. An attempt in 1990 was somewhat successful. I was hit on the head with an iron rod. When asked if I am afraid now, I'll ask if will I feel fear at 72 that I did not feel at 35. My age has surpassed the national average for life expectancy.
I am now living additional time. So there is no fear," he said.

Returning after the program, the Governor stepped out of the car and embraced the kids. He walked along the road for more than a minute. Meanwhile, DYFI and SFI activists waved black flags against the Governor when he arrived in Idukki. The Governor reached Idukki when the LDF was observing a hartal in the district.
