THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Along with solving the problem of 500 mm and 700 mm transmission pipelines going to Nemam and Iranimuttam parts, a special ‘Plan B’ to bring water to city residents was mooted by the officials, but it stumbled just before implementation.

Earlier, it was decided to start water pumping after fixing the valve leak, found in the newly fixed valve in the CIT road, connecting Killipalam to Jagathy. It takes two hours for water to reach PTP Nagar if pumped from the 74 MLD plant at Aruvikkara.

Even if the work gets completed, it takes 10 hours for water to reach houses located at elevated landscapes. Considering all these roadblocks, the officials planned to start pumping from 4 pm on Sunday but Alas, the valve leak problem got delayed, tangling all the scheduled plans.

More than 5000 employees in secretariat are worried about the happenings and are unsure how to overcome the crisis if it gets repeated on Monday. There has been no water supply in secretariat for the past two days. The functioning of many other government offices and other institutions in the city are no different. Many hotels have been locked down and some have turned to parcel service only.
