THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There were minor clashes in the march to the Secretariat led by the district committee to protest the arrest of Youth Congress state president Rahul Mamkootathil. The police fired the water cannon several times at the activists who tried to overturn the barricade. Shafi Parambil MLA inaugurated the march.

The activists, who protested by sitting on the road, tried to overturn the barricade after a while. Although the protest continued for an hour, the police did not arrest the protesters.

Shafi Parambil MLA said that if police are doing legitimate work then the Youth Congress will accept it but if they take up CPM's gangster work then they will react strongly. The Chief Minister's directives are being implemented by the police. Shafi Parambil joked that if the policeman who grabbed Rahul Mamkootathil in the neck when he tried to talk to the media persons, intends to do slave labour for the Chief Minister, he should buy milk and biscuits for the grandson at Cliff House.

Outrage against C.I

Youth Congress workers staged a protest against Cantonment CI BM Shafi who had grabbed Rahul Mamkootathil by his shirt. 'Where is he?', they yelled in rage. The CI, who was on duty at the Secretariat, had returned to the station before the Youth Congress march arrived.
