Principal VS Joy transferred amid conflicts in Maharaja's College

KOCHI: The Principal of Maharaja's College, Dr V S Joy, has been transferred. He has been transferred to Sri Neelakanda Government Sanskrit College in Pattambi on the recommendation of the Director of Collegiate Education.

The transfer of the principal came after Maharaja's College was closed indefinitely in the wake of the clashes that have been going on for the past few days. VS Joy was the complainant in the fake document case involving SFI leader Vidya. He was also accused in the mark list controversy related to SFI state president PM Arsho. The police registered a conspiracy case by making Joy the second accused in the complaint filed by Arsho in connection with the mark list controversy.

Last day, SFI Unit Secretary PA Abdul Nasser (21) was stabbed in Maharajas College where student conflict continues. Aswathy, the woman leader who was with him, was assaulted. After this, the college and the hostel were closed indefinitely. Ijilal, a third-year environmental chemistry student, was arrested in the incident that took place around 11:30 on Wednesday night.

Abdul Nasser, a third-year student of history, and Ashwathy (20), a member of the SFI Ernakulam area committee and a second-year student of philosophy, are undergoing treatment at a private hospital. Ashwathy was not seriously injured. Nasser has five wounds on his leg, chest and back. A surgery was done yesterday on the right finger which was partially cut off while defending the attack. The Ernakulam Central Police has registered a case against 14 people including KSU-Fraternity Movement women activists and five identifiable people. Nine charges including attempt to murder have been charged against them.
