THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Devaswom Board President PS Prasanth said that this year's Mandalam-Makaravilakkku season in Sabarimala generated a revenue of Rs 357.47 crore. He said that there has been an increase of 10.35 crores this year. The revenue generated during last year's Mandalam-Makaravilakku season was Rs 347.12 crore.
"Rs 146,99,37,700 was received from the sale of Aravana and Rs 17,64,77,795 from the sale of Appam. The Hundi Collection is yet to be counted. We are expecting that the revenue from the Hundi collection will be at least 10 crores. The total revenue will increase further when revenue from Nilakkal, Pampa and Erumeli are calculated," Prasanth said.
This year, there was also an increase in the number of pilgrims who visited Sabarimala. Lakhs of Ayyappa devotees came to get the darshan of Lord Ayyappa during the Sabarimala pilgrimage period which started on November 16, 2023. 50,06,412 people visited Sabarimala this time as compared to 44,16,219 during the last pilgrimage.
