Kochi Bar shooting incident: Police suspect involvement of gang leaders

KOCHI: It is suspected that the accused involved in the gunshot incident inside a bar in Kochi are members of a notorious criminal gang. On Sunday at 11 pm, the gang created a ruckus inside the Edassery bar in Kochi. According to the report, a native of Angamaly has been taken into police custody.

The gang had a dispute with the bar employees over serving alcohol which made them settle scores using a revolver. After injuring three staff, the gang fled away from the spot in their car. It is reported that the gang members left their car at Mudavoor, switched off their mobile phones and later took another car to escape.

The police are conducting a detailed investigation into the incident. The police have identified the accused after collecting CCTV footage from the bar. It was initially thought that the employees were shot with an air pistol. However, during the inspection conducted by the police, the weapon was identified as a revolver.

Sujin Johnson and Akhilnath, employees of the bar were shot in the melee. The manager of the bar was brutally beaten up in the attack. The accused shot one person twice in the abdomen while another employee suffered a gunshot in the thighs. Sujin's condition is critical, according to hospital reports.
