SULTAN BATHERY: Wildlife extravagance was on full display near Beenachi estate on Wednesday. Wild buffaloes were seen roaming in the check dam area on Wednesday afternoon in Poothikad settlement under Sultan Bathery municipality. Locals spotted a total of six wild buffaloes. After people reported about the distress, the forest officials arrived at the spot and chased the wild beasts away. However, by evening the pack returned to the same spot and established its dominance in private fields in the area.

Forest department staff and residents searched and concluded that the wild buffaloes returned to the forest at night. Things were far from settled in the area as news came about locals spotting a tiger in Nambeesan Kavala.

The incident happened around 5 pm on Wednesday. The tiger was seen crossing Arivayal Avayal Road and heading towards Jaya Estate. Muralidharan Pillai of 'Ushus house' in Nambeesan Kavala was watering the plants in the yard when he heard the dogs barking frenetically and saw the tiger crossing the road and heading towards the estate.

After learning about the incident, the forest department staff reached the spot and conducted an inspection.

Saved by a whisker

On Wednesday morning at around 6.30 am, Lizzy was heading to the church when she saw the yellow and black stripes on the opposite of the road which made her freeze. She ran backwards instantly and the giant tiger waited no time to jump into the road and disappeared into the estate land. The CCTV visual of the incident has also gone viral on the internet.
