BHOPAL: While rumours are claiming that senior leader and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath may soon join the BJP, the Congress is gearing up for a decisive move in Madhya Pradesh. Earlier, there were reports that Kamal Nath was upset with the Congress leadership. This eventually gave rise to the rumour that Kamal Nath and his son may soon leave the Congress and join the BJP. However, Congress leaders, including the PCC president, have denied the rumours.
Now, the Congress leadership has called a meeting of MLAs to assess the current situation in the state. Considering the political situation in the state, AICC leadership has sent General Secretary Jitendra Singh to Madhya Pradesh. Jitendra Singh will meet MLAs in Madhya Pradesh today. The leadership will seek the opinion of the MLAs on the rumours regarding Kamal Nath.
Jitendra Singh told the media that the reports regarding Kamal Nath joining the BJP are false.
"Kamal Nathji is one of the senior leaders of the Congress. It is the BJP that is spreading the rumours. I spoke to Kamal Nathji on Sunday. We spoke about the preparations for the Bharat Nyay Yatra," Jitendra Singh said.
Jitendra Singh will meet 66 MLAs. The leadership has contacted all the party MLAs on the phone and asked them to reach Bhopal. An MLA told the news agency that nothing was explained about the agenda of the meeting.
Meanwhile, Kamal Nath has not yet responded to the rumours about joining the BJP.
'Why are you all so excited? Not denying it. If there is anything like that, I will inform you all," Kamal Nath told the media on Saturday
