SRINAGAR: A Russian skier died in an avalanche in Jammu and Kashmir's Gulmarg. The avalanche occurred in the Khilanmarg region of the Afarwat peak. The deceased was part of a seven-member Russian team. Officials informed that six people were rescued and they are undergoing treatment. The rescue operation was carried out by the army and the patrolling team. They came for the adventure without any locals. A video of stranded tourists and helicopter rescue has gone viral.
It has been snowing heavily for three days in Kashmir. The hilly and mountainous regions of the valley have received a large amount of snowfall. There are reports that an avalanche may still form in the area.
