'Crossed all limits'; PM Modi rips apart DMK for Isro ad gaffe

CHENNAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi castigated the Tamil Nadu government in harsh words for including a picture of Chinese flag in the opening advertisement of the launch centre of ISRO in Kulasekharapatnam, Tamil Nadu. Ahead of the foundation stone laying ceremony, Fisheries Minister Anitha R Radhakrishnan released the advertisement.

The advertisement was prepared to praise the efforts made by former Chief Minister Karunanidhi and his son and current Chief Minister MK Stalin to make this dream project a reality. However, the Chinese flag covering the rocket drew flak and snowballed into a bigger controversy after PM Modi showed vehemence at the sheer audacity shown.

PM Modi ridiculed the DMK for perenially trying to take credit for the development works put by the BJP-led central government. Modi accused DMK of giving away credit to China thus belittling ISRO's valiant efforts.

“They were not ready to publish the progress in the Indian space sector while giving an advertisement. They were not ready to provide an image that represented the Indian Space Agency in the advertisement, but they included China” PM Modi blamed.

BJP state president K. Annamalai also came to the foray raising criticism at the DMK government. The Prime Minister later inaugurated various development projects worth Rs 17,000 crore in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. PM Modi also vowed to give special attention to Tamil Nadu when he gets into power for the third time in 2024.

“Tamil Nadu will prosper. The state will have big things to offer for making India a developed nation. Better roads will happen in coming times and for that huge investments are being made in the state” PM Modi said.
