crown

THRISSUR: A congress councilor of the corporation came forward demanding to know the purity of the gold crown presented by Suresh Gopi, actor and BJP candidate of Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency, at the Lourdes Metropolitan Cathedral in Thrissur. Councilor Leela Varghese came forward demanding to know how much gold is used in the statue of Mary after the allegation levelled that copper was plated with gold in the name of gold crown.

'Knowing that Our Lady of Lourdes had received a golden crown of so many sovereigns. The public coming to the church said copper was plated with gold. In this situation, asked the priest that she is interested to know the weight of the crown,’ said Leela Varghese.

On the occasion of his daughter's marriage, Suresh Gopi along with his family offered the golden crown to the church. Suresh Gopi said that before his daughter's marriage, he had vowed to offer a gold crown to Our Lady of Lourdes and the offering was a part of it. When the crown fell down within a short time, Suresh Gopi was criticized on social media. He was criticized saying that the statue of Mary recognized the hypocrisy of the actor.

It is now being alleged that the actor presented the crown of copper plated with gold. It is now being circulated that the crown presented by Suresh Gopi has only six grams of gold. However, there is still no clarity in this regard. The actor is now being trolled on social media for presenting the statue of copper plated with gold.
