Distribution of Sabari K-Rice from March 12; Chief Minister will inaugurate in Thiruvananthapuram

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government's Sabari K-Rice will be distributed through Supplyco outlets from March 12. The supply of 10 kg of subsidized rice by Supplyco will also continue. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the distribution of rice on March 12th in Thiruvananthapuram, Minister G.R. Anil said in a press conference. Jaya rice will be distributed in the Thiruvananthapuram region, Matta rice in the Kottayam-Ernakulam region and Kuruva in Palakkad and Kozhikode regions.

Rice will be distributed in cloth bags worth Rs 13-14. The total money spent on bags is less than Rs 10 lakhs. This amount will be met from Supplyco's promotion and advertising budget. All the subsidized goods will be delivered to Supplyco outlets in the next week. The minister also said that chickpeas, black gram and chillies have reached the warehouses.

Sabari K-Rice will be distributed in branded cloth bags as part of the promotion of Supplyco and Sabari brand products. The rice in ration stores is being provided as Bharat rice. Distributors NAFED and NCCF earn a profit of Rs 10.41 per kg from the sale of Bharat rice. However, the state government is providing K-Rice by taking up the liability of Rs 9.50 to 11.11, the minister said.

Five kilos per card

  • Jaya rice (per kg)- Rs 29
  • Matta and Kuruva rice- Rs 30
  • 5 kg packet per month for each ration card
