THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Albeit all preparations set for the inauguration of Sabari K-rice in Kerala, the required rice has not yet reached Supplyco which has now put the government in an odd spot. Along with rice, 13 items of subsidized goods have not reached the outlets.
The State-level inauguration of Supplyco's rice distribution is scheduled at 12 pm on Wednesday in Ayyankali Hall. The authorities assured that the required quantity of rice would reach Supplyco after the inauguration. Sabari K brand sells Jaya rice at Rs 29 and Kurua and Matta rice at Rs 30. A ration cardholder will get five kilograms of rice.
Jaya rice will be distributed in Thiruvananthapuram, Matta rice in Kottayam, Ernakulam region while Kuruva rice will hit the market in Kozhikode region during the first phase of distribution.
Rice will be distributed in cloth bags worth Rs 13-14. A humungous amount of Rs 10 lakh was paid for buying the cloth bags in mass. This amount was taken from the budget allowed for promotion and advertising for Supplyco.
