KOZHIKODE: A mysterious incident unfolded with the discovery of a young woman's body in a stream near Perampra Nochad. Anu (26) alias Meethal Ambika from Valoor Kurungudi died. The preliminary conclusion of the police investigation suggests a possible murder linked to an attempted robbery of her jewelry.
At the time of the incident, investigators are focusing on a young man who arrived on a red bike, known to have been involved in previous pickpocketing cases. Anu's body was found in the stream last Tuesday at 9 o'clock in the morning. Crucial information emerged during the investigation, notably the absence of jewelry from the victim's body.
Meanwhile, relatives are demanding a thorough investigation into Anu's death. Damodaran, a relative, asserted earlier that Anu's demise couldn't be attributed to a mere slip and emphasized the need for a comprehensive inquiry. According to the published post-mortem report, Anu's cause of death was drowning with no signs of torture or other injuries.
Anu had left her home on Monday morning with her husband, who was seeking medical attention. However, upon her disappearance, her husband and relatives searched for her in vain before filing a police complaint. The body was subsequently found in the stream during the investigation. The missing gold ornaments that Anu was wearing when she went missing further fuel suspicion.
Local residents question the plausibility of drowning in a stream with knee-deep water. Anu, who got married a year ago to Prajilraj, returned to Valoor when her mother fell ill. She left her home to accompany her husband to the hospital but never arrived. Relatives say that Anu appeared content and devoid of other issues.
