Remarks on BJP candidate: K Surendran praising while VD Satheesan slamming; LDF convener EP Jayarajan responds

KANNUR: LDF convener EP Jayarajan said that his remark that BJP candidates in Kerala are the best was misinterpreted by the media. He added that what some media said should be reported as what he said.

"I said that the Left should win and the BJP should be defeated. Politburo member Pinarayi Vijayan has made things clear. That is my position as well," EP Jayarajan clarified. EP also responded to the leader of the opposition VD Satheesan's comment that EP Jayarajan is the captain of BJP's B team in Kerala. "VD Satheesan is the one who went to pray with Agarbatti at the statue of the RSS chief and Congress members are people who went to guard shakha", EP criticized.

EP Jayarajan said that the competition is between LDF and BJP in some constituencies in Kerala and BJP has good candidates in many places. After the remark became very controversial, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and others came forward. The Chief Minister responded that in Kerala the competition is between the LDF and UDF competition and the BJP will suffer a setback. CPM State Secretary MV Govindan had also come forward with an explanation.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders also came forward in support of EP's statement. K Surendran said that he is thankful to EP for saying that BJP has the best candidates and he will not make any statement to insult EP because of this. Shobha Surendran responded that the EP must have commented after checking the facts.
