Expatriate who came for kidney transplant dies in Torus Lorry accident; death during morning walk

KOCHI: Expatriate who had come from Dubai for a kidney transplant met a tragic end when a Torus lorry hit him during his morning walk. The person who died is Abdul Sattar (55) of Kannur Azhikode Kacheripara KM house. He was staying with his son Ibrahim in a rented house near the hospital in Nettoor for kidney transplant-related treatment. The accident took place near the Nettoor bridge yesterday at 7:30 am.

Abdul Sattar died instantly when the lorry which was going towards Alappuzha with M sand lost control and ran over his body. Panangad police registered a case against the driver, a native of Alappuzha, and took the lorry into custody. The police concluded that the driver may have fallen asleep. The driver said that Sattar, who was walking on the footpath, suddenly came down on the road. The police are examining the CCTV footage. Sattar's family is in Dubai. The body was handed over to the relatives after postmortem. Rites will be performed later. He has three daughters and his wife is Sabira.
