Congress faces financial crunch: Income tax notice of Rs 1745 crores

congress-

NEW DELHI: While repeatedly saying that there is no money for the Lok Sabha election campaign, the Congress has also been given an income tax notice of 1745 crores. The tax demanded is for the year 2014-15 to 2016-17. With this, the total tax demanded from the Congress is 3567 crores. There are reports that the notice is part of the withdrawal of tax exemptions for political parties.

Delhi High Court did not intervene in the petitions filed by the Congress against the Income Tax Department's action to revise the figures for the seven years from 2014-15 to 2020-21. The Congress is trying to present the matter before the Supreme Court and demand immediate intervention. The bench chaired by Justice B.V. Nagaratna will consider the petition submitted in 2016 related to income tax today.
