Youth stabbed to death during temple festival in Irinjalakuda, five seriously injured

THRISSUR: In a shocking incident, a youth was stabbed to death following an altercation that happened at the Moorkanad Shiva temple festival on Wednesday. Velathur, Manakody native Akshay (25) is the deceased. The incident happened at Alumparamba in Moorkanad.

The incident happened shortly after the fireworks in the festival culminated. Six people were stabbed in the attack which took place around 7 pm. Four of them were admitted to Thrissur Elite Hospital and one to Irinjalakuda Cooperative Hospital.

The deceased Akshay was stabbed near the chest. Sahil from Anandapuram, Prajith from Moorkanad, Manoj from Kodakara, Santhosh from Anandapuram and Nikhil from Thottipal are undergoing treatment.

According to locals, the gang members carried deadly weapons to attack the youths. Akshay's body was shifted to the mortuary of Mapranam Lal Hospital. An investigation led by Irinjalakuda DYSP Kunjumoideen has already started.
