THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thiruvananthapuram NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar has lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police against Thiruvananthapuram DCC member and All India Fishermen's Congress National Executive Committee member J Moses Joseph D'Cruz for forging documents and carrying out false campaigns against him. In his complaint, Rajeev Chandrasekhar alleged that an old photo of his was morphed and misused to raise false allegations that he was having business ties with EP Jayarajan.
As per the complaint, D'Cruz was involved in a criminal conspiracy by tampering with an old photograph featuring Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik alongside Rajeev Chandreshar taken on August 4, 2023, and falsely circulating it. This picture was circulated on various social media platforms, including Facebook and WhatsApp. The face of Pratima Bhowmik in the photo was replaced by the face of CPM leader EP Jayarajan's wife PK Indira. The complaint pointed out that D'Cruz circulated this fake picture to spread the lie that Rajeev Chandrasekhar had business ties with EP Jayarajan.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar stated that this manipulation was done to deceive the public and gain sympathy by spreading misleading information. He also alleged that there was a criminal conspiracy and personal and political agenda behind it. He also said that the frustrated Congress was resorting to such cheap tricks against him as it had no real development agenda to talk about or achievements to show in Thiruvananthapuram during the election campaign.
Rajeev Chandrasekhar also lodged a complaint with Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kaul and Nodal Officer in charge of Election Code of Conduct Adeela Abdulla against the Congress for circulating a fake video alleging falsely that he had concealed the information about his assets. He said that the Congress was violating the moral code of conduct by again circulating this allegation which was earlier rejected by the Election Commission and the Delhi High Court.
