Night duty for lady teachers in static surveillance team; protests strong

inspection-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Strong protests are happening against the proposal to have lady higher secondary teachers work in the squad (static surveillance team) to catch illegal money, liquor and gifts as part of the elections. The lady teachers have been included according to the orders of the District Collectors. The protest is against the inclusion of women in night duty.
Duty is in shifts from 6 am to 2 pm, 2 pm to 10 pm, and 10 pm to 6 am the next day. A list of 66 persons has been prepared in the order issued by the Kollam District Collector for inspection in Kollam, Mavelikkara and Alappuzha Lok Sabha constituencies. More than fifty of them are women. Lady teachers have been widely appointed in other districts as well.
AHSTA General Secretary S Manoj demanded that teachers should be exempted from the inspection as they have important work including evaluation of examination papers.
The SST squad for vehicle inspection is headed by the Executive Magistrate. There will be three or four policemen in the group. It is recommended to submit a daily report on the inspection.
