IDUKKI: A wild boar that fell into a well was shot dead in Kattappana. The boar fell into Babychan's well, a resident of Nirappelkada. Workers found the boar in the well this morning and informed the homeowner. Upon notification to the forest department by the homeowner, officials arrived at the scene. Locals demanded the boar be shot and a team from Thekkady forest department complied. The boar's body was then buried.
Wild boar attacks continue to escalate in hilly areas, posing a longstanding threat to villagers. Travelers, especially those traveling alone, often find themselves stranded for hours due to these attacks. Over the past two months, numerous people have been critically injured by wild boars and other wildlife.
Yesterday, a wild boar stormed into the emergency department of Konni Medical College at three o'clock in the morning. Fortunately, no patients were present, averting a potential disaster. After causing panic for a while, the boar exited through the OP ticketing area.
Konni Medical College is situated adjacent to the Thavalapara forest area in the Konni forest division. Wild boars are known to frequent the vicinity of the college hostel at night, with wild buffaloes previously visiting the college courtyard after dark.
