Sluggish box office performance; 'The Family Star' hero Vijay Devarakonda returns money to distributor

Collecting just Rs 35 crores, Telugu superstar Vijay Devarakonda’s latest movie ‘The Family Star’ has arguably failed at the box office. The movie was made with an investment of Rs 50 crores.

The distributors had held talks with producer Dil Raju seeking compensation. With the news going viral, actor Vijay Deverakonda and director Parasuram agreed to pay a share of the remuneration to the distributors. This was the second collaboration of Parasuram with Devarakonda after the hit ‘Geethagovindam’, which was released in 2018.

These are certainly not the best of times for actor Vijay Deverakonda, who is facing back-to-back failures at the box office. His Bollywood debut ‘Ligar’ and last year's release ‘Khushi’ failed at the box office. The films ‘Dear Comrade’ and ‘World Famous Lover’ were no great shakes.

On another note, social media is rife with rumours about Vijay Devarakonda-Rashmika Mandana's wedding. Both actors have refrained from commenting on the topic.
