Former world chess champion and chess legend Garry Kasparov made headlines on Friday after the Russian grandmaster tore down Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in one impromptu Twitter exchange.

"Traditional dictates that you should first win from Rae Bareli before challenging for the top". Garry responded to one Twitter user’s statement highlighting the veteran’s earlier retirement from chess.

The tweet expanded beyond political horizons to go super viral, leaving Congress in a bigger mess. Rahul Gandhi’s quick switch to Rae Bareli after contesting in Wayanad received brickbats even from INDIA alliance partners who denounced the late political demagoguery. Amidst this political kerfuffle came Garry’s taunt, adding more worries to Congress.

After the tweet went viral and discussed, Garry came with a response, saying "I very much hope my little joke does not pass for advocacy or expertise in Indian politics! But as an "all-seeing monster with 1000 eyes," as I was once described, I cannot fail to see a politician dabbling in my beloved game!"

Congress party often shares video of Rahul Gandhi playing chess. Even Rahul has openly admitted and named Kasparov as his favourite chess player.

At the age of 22 in 1985, Garry Kasparov became the youngest-ever undisputed world champion.
