BJP leader who kickstarted Prajwal Revanna controversy booked in sexual assault case

BENGALURU: BJP leader Devaraje Gowda has been taken into custody by Karnataka police following a sexual assault complaint. Gowda, who was heading to Bengaluru from Chitradurga was stopped by the police and eventually booked.

Karthik Reddy, the driver who leaked the sexual assault footage of NDA candidate and JDS sitting MP Prajwal Revanna from Hassan, had handed over the pen drive containing all the footage to Devaraje Gowda. Earlier, Devaraje Gowda alleged the involvement of Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar in leaking the video. Gowda said he has no faith in the SIT investigation.

It was at this juncture that a woman came with a complaint against Devaraje Gowda on Friday alleging sexual assault. Devaraje Gowda had earlier refused any role in the video leak of Prajwal Revanna. Gowda is the lawyer of Revvana’s former driver Karthik.

“Revanna belongs to the criminal family of Hassan. Six months back, I conducted a press conference and even informed BJP leaders about the case. No matter how much pressure, I will stand with the truth.” Devaraje Gowda also shared concern about receiving life threats after the Prajwal Revanna incident spread like wildfire across the country.
