Heavy rain and wind in Mumbai city; Three dead and 59 people injured in billboard collapse at police ground petrol pump in Ghatkopar

MUMBAI: Heavy rain and strong winds caused damage in Mumbai city and nearby metropolitan areas. It is reported that many people were injured. It is reported that three people died and 59 people were injured when a huge billboard near a petrol pump collapsed in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area. There are reports that more than 100 people are stuck here. The incident took place at the police ground petrol pump. NDRF team is carrying out rescue operations at the spot. Thane, Ambernath, Badlapur, Kalyan and Ullas Nagar, adjacent to Mumbai, also received wind and heavy rain.

A lift in a car park collapsed and several people were injured in Wadala. The fire brigade has reached here for rescue operations. Rain and inclement weather disrupted air and train services in Mumbai. Many flights to Mumbai were diverted due to poor visibility. This is due to rain and wind speed up to 75 kmph.

The Thane-Mulund rail service was suspended after trees fell on top of the railway electric line. There was waterlogging in Thane. According to Metro Rail spokespersons, metro services were also disrupted following the incident where advertising banners fell on the line.
