63-year-old man who fell unconscious after being beaten up by son dies after 11 days; elder son taken into custody

MALAYINKEEZHU: A 63-year-old man who had been lying unconscious in the intensive care unit for the last 11 days died on Tuesday. Vilavoorkal Pottayil native Rajendran died this afternoon. Meanwhile, the Malayinkeezhu police took Rajendran's elder son Rajesh (42) into custody after a relative told the police that Rajendran sustained head injuries after being beaten up by his son. Rajendran was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state on May 4.

According to the police, a brawl broke out between Rajendran and Rajesh after Rajendran came home drunk in the night. Following this, Rajendran sustained a serious head injury after he was brutally beaten up by Rajesh. Police said that the cause of death will become clear only after post-mortem. Rajendran's wife is Sudha. He has three other children- Rajeev, Sajjeev and Thara. The body is currently kept at the mortuary of the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College.
