MUMBAI: A State Reserve Police Force jawan (SRPF), included in the security entourage of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, shot himself to death on Wednesday. Prakash Kapde (39), a jawan of the Maharashtra State Reserve Police is the deceased. Prakash's body was found in his house in Jamner, Maharashtra.
Prakash, who was part of Sachin's VVIP security team, had taken leave and gone home the other day. It is reported that he shot himself at half past one this morning. It is reported that Kapde used his service gun to kill himself. He suffered a gunshot in his neck area. Jamner police have registered a case in the incident.
Prakash's family consists of elderly parents, a wife and two young children. According to the preliminary report, personal reasons are the mainspring that led Kapde to make the horrific decision. Jamner Police Inspector Kiran Shinde while interacting with media asked news channels to not write surmises and to wait until the investigation is over. SRPF will also investigate the death of Prakash.
Prakash's body has been sent for post-mortem. It has been informed that the police will question the family members and colleagues after the post-mortem rites are completed.
