Heavy rainfall expected in short period of time, likely to cause flash floods; CM issues warning to people

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged the people to exercise caution as the state is likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall in the coming hours. Taking to his Facebook page, the Chief Minister stated that people should remain alert as extremely heavy rainfall might cause flash floods and mountain floods in the state.

'Extremely heavy rainfall might cause accidents in the state. Heavy rainfall is expected in a short period of time. It may cause flash floods and mountain floods. Hence, the public should remain alert,' the CM wrote.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded a red alert in Ernakulam and Thrissur districts due to the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall. Orange alert has also been sounded in various districts today and tomorrow.
