MALAPPURAM: Activists of the KMCC attempted to manhandle Muslim League general secretary PMA Salam, secretaries Abid Husain Thangal MLA and Abdurahman Randathani during a meeting of the KMCC in Kuwait. The leaders reached Kuwait on Friday to manage the elections of Kozhikode, Kannur, Malappuram and Thrissur district committees. The activists turned into two groups and clashed in a meeting held at Abbasia United Indian School.
Factions of the President and General Secretary are strong in Kuwait KMCC. During Salam's opening speech, the activists arrived under the leadership of General Secretary Sharafuddin Kanneth. They alleged that the District Council held the meeting unilaterally without resolving their grievances related to the Kozhikode District Committee. The activists stormed the venue and questioned the League leaders. This resulted in fisticuffs. The leaders who stopped the meeting returned without being able to conduct the election.
