CHENNAI: As the counting of votes progresses in the Lok Sabha election, lead status is fluctuating in various parts of the country. A recent report has claimed that BJP Tamil Nadu state president and NDA candidate K Annamalai is trailing in the Coimbatore constituency. According to reports, Annamalai received just one vote when the ballots from one booth in the constituency were counted. DMK's Ganapathi P is leading in the Coimbatore constituency.
In Tamil Nadu, the INDIA front is leading in 38 out of the 39 constituencies. When the first round of vote counting was completed, the NDA alliance was leading only in Dharmapuri.
Tamil Nadu had recorded a voter turnout of 69.72 per cent in the election held on April 19. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had strongly campaigned for the NDA candidates in the state.
The exit poll results released by various agencies on June 4 had predicted that the BJP would win 4 seats in Tamil Nadu. It also stated that the INDIA alliance will perform well in the state.
