THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Indian Meteorological Department has warned that there is a possibility of widespread rain in Kerala for the next five days as a result of the presence of a cyclonic circulation over Marathwada. There will be thunderstorms and rain with strong winds. It has been updated that there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places from today till June 12 and very heavy rain on June 11 & 12.
During the next three hours, isolated heavy rain with thundershowers and gusty winds of speed up to 40 kmph over Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad districts are likely. According to IMD, there will be moderate rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Kannur and Palakkad districts and strong winds with a speed of up to 40 km per hour.
IMD has informed that it is not advisable to go fishing on the coasts of Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep from today till the 12th. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Research Center has warned that there is a possibility of Kallakadal aka swell surge waves phenomenon and high waves along the Kerala coast and Tamil Nadu coast till 11:30 pm tomorrow.
