Heavy rain with thunder and lightning expected in coming hours; Winds at a speed of 40 kmph also predicted

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain likely in Kerala. Rain warning has been issued in various districts. Three districts are on yellow alert today.

Yellow alert has been declared in Ernakulam, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. A chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts are likely to experience light to moderate rain with thundershowers at isolated places and gusty winds of up to 40 kmph. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of moderate rain at isolated places in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Palakkad, Kozhikode, Wayanad and Kannur districts and light rain in other districts. Heavy rain will continue in the coming days.

A yellow alert has been announced in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kozhikode and Kannur districts tomorrow and Kannur and Kasaragod districts on the day after. On Friday, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur districts are on orange alert and Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Wayanad and Kasaragod districts are on yellow alert.

On Saturday, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts are on orange alert and Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Wayanad districts are on yellow alert.

IMD has informed that fishing should not be done on Friday and Saturday in the Kerala-Lakshadweep coasts and on the Karnataka coast on Thursday and Saturday.
