Deepu left home saying that he was going to Coimbatore. He had also told his family that two from Neyyattinkara and Thakkalai would accompany him. However, according to the CCTV footage, only one person was seen getting out of the vehicle.
Deepu was a well-known businessman. There were some minor financial disputes over it. Investigation is underway based on his recent phone calls. His family said that Deepu got a call two days ago and a dispute had broken out between the two. However, they don’t know who the other person was. Moreover, the police said the accused could be someone who knows Deepu well and he knew that the victim was travelling with money.
The incident happened early Tuesday morning on the Thiruvananthapuram-Kanyakumari National Highway near Kaliyakkavilai Padamthalumoodu petrol pump on the Tamil Nadu border. The body was on the driver's seat of the Mahendra SUV owned by Deepu with the seat belt. 90 percent of his neck was found severed. There were no other injuries on his body. The vehicle was parked on the roadside. Therefore, the police believe that the incident happened while he was waiting for someone. The body was found by the patrolling team after seeing the vehicle with parking lights on. The police suspect that a person close to Deepu is behind the murder. The officials are of the preliminary conclusion that the murder occurred during robbery. The body is now in Asaripallam Medical College Hospital in Nagercoil.
