KUZHTHURAI: The police are engrossed in the mystery of the incident in which crusher owner Deepu (45) was found strangled in a car near Kaliyikkavila. Ambili's statement is that Deepu asked him to kill him because of the heavy financial burden that arose after the crusher was temporarily closed.

The statement is as follows...

On Monday morning, Ambili reached Kaliyikkavila and found the place to commit the murder. After roaming around the area, waited for Deepu at Kaliyikkavila at 8.30 pm. Deepu arrived and took Ambili along in the car. After reaching near the Padanthalumoodu check post, the car was parked on the roadside. Ambili was carrying chloroform, cutter blade and surgical blade. Noticing the old man watching from the front of the car, Deepu got out and opened the car's bonnet. After getting back into the driving seat of the car, he put on his seat belt. After giving Deepu the chloroform that Ambili kept in his hand, he cut Deepu's neck with a cutter blade, but the blade broke. (Part of the broken blade was found in the car). Then, Ambili got out of the front seat of the car, got into the back seat and slit Deepu's throat again with a surgical blade.

After confirming the death, he went to the nearby medical shop and asked for phone to the staff to call his wife. After calling, his wife's number was deleted. From there he asked for a lift and reached Kaliyikkavila by bike and returned to Thiruvananthapuram by bus.
