BENGALURU: Govt extends time to celebrate nightlife. It has been decided that hotels and clubs in Bengaluru can remain open till 1 am from now on. Government of Karnataka has allowed all establishments under Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to operate till one o'clock.
The government's decision came out after the Urban Development Department approved the announcement made in last year's budget. According to the new order, bars can operate from 10 pm to 1 am. Clubs, star hotels, hotels, and lodges can operate from nine to one in the morning. A similar decision was taken in 2016 too, but due to public sentiment against it, it was decided to close at 11 o'clock.
During the budget presentation, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that all types of businesses will be allowed to operate till one in the morning. Hotels, clubs and bars that serve alcohol used to be closed by 10 and 11 pm according to the BBMP Act. These will be allowed to stay open till one o'clock. It is clear from the new order that the nightlife, which was done unofficially in the past, is now officially run by the state government itself.
