JAIPUR: There was an attempt to derail a train in Rajasthan’s Ajmer. A cement block weighing 70 kilograms was found on the railway track. Railway officials said a goods train did hit the blocks but nothing untoward happened.

The incident happened on the railway tracks between Saradhana and Bangar stations on Sunday night. The blocks were placed to obstruct the train. However, the train’s engine smashed through the blocks, preventing a terrible derailment.

A major train accident was averted by an alert loco pilot as the Bhiwani-Prayagraj Kalindi Express was brought to a halt after hitting an LPG cylinder placed on tracks in Kanpur. The train officials had informed the railway authorities and they reached the spot and examined the place. Anti-terrorist squad, RPF and GRP teams are investigating the incident.

A bottle containing petrol and a match box were found near the cylinder. It is hinted that it was an attempt to derail a train. The police started an investigation into the incident.
